Things To Do For Your Dog This Year

January 1, 2023

Happy New Year! This is traditionally a day for us to let go of things, and re-center ourselves as we move forward into a new year. Whether you have any New Year’s rituals or traditions you like to do, or are maybe just relaxing at home, this is definitely a time to think about your personal goals. Why not include Fido in those plans? This also happens to be a great time to revisit your canine pal’s care regimen. A local Roanoke, VA vet lists a few things you may want to put on your agenda in this article.

Finish Training

Fido’s petucation really never ends … or at least, it doesn’t have to. If your furry bff hasn’t finished his basic obedience yet, work on that first, Otherwise, you can move on to showing your pooch some cute tricks. (Tip: Roll Over will never stop being adorable.)

Go Somewhere New

Dogs love exploring new places. Get Fido’s cute tail going by exploring a new park or trail with him this year. Fresh air, a pretty hike, and some outdoor time with your furry pal sounds like a pretty perfect day! If it’s too cold, or if you’re just not much for parks or hiking, take your canine buddy to a pet store to pick out a toy, or perhaps to a pet-friendly café or restaurant.

Provide Small Comforts

Little things can go a long way when it comes to keeping your pooch comfy. That includes things like thick beds, regular dental care, pawdicures, and, for pups with thin fur, jackets.

Take Time To Play

Playing is great for Fido, both mentally and physically. Spend a few minutes a day playing with your furry best friend. This will be great for both of you.

Offer Great Nutrition

Fido’s diet plays a huge role in his overall health. Consider upgrading his food, or maybe adding some supplements. Ask your vet for specific recommendations, including serving sizes and suitable treats.

Keep That Tail Going

At the end of the day, Fido needs to feel loved and safe to truly thrive. Carve out some quality time with your canine companion every day. Life is just better with dogs!
